A London heavyweight...

A London heavyweight for the finishing touches. Philippe Renan could have entrusted the mastering of his album to Paulo Germano, who is more than competent in the field. But all professionals agree that it is better to have these two essential stages of production carried out by two different sound engineers. Having worked with Abbey Road in 2012 on the mastering of a previous album, Philippe Renan reached out to the London studio again, and entrusted his mission to Simon Gibson, one of the world’s leading audio restoration and remastering engineers. He was not disappointed. This final step in the post-production of All Right was crucial. There was no better person to bring together all the sound elements and optimise the running of the album. And the result was perfect.

After graduating from the Royal College of Music in London and the University of Cambridge, Simon joined Abbey Road in 1990. Equally at home with vintage analogue equipment as with cutting-edge digital tools, he has experience in all musical genres, from rock and pop to soundtracks with symphony orchestras, from contemporary jazz to vocal and choral albums. Over 30 years, Simon Gibson has mastered for some of the biggest names in music. They include Paul McCartney, Take That, Depeche Mode, Robbie Williams, Sigur Ros, as well as the Choir of King’s College, Cambridge, which is arguably one of the most famous in the world. He was also part of the Abbey Road team that remastered the entire collection of studio recordings by Maria Callas, which was released in 2014.

Simon Gibson has won numerous accolades, such as a Grammy Award in 2007 for remastering a CD on behalf of Lyrita, a British classical music label, and in 2009 for the complete restoration of the entire The Beatles Remasters album.
